Speaking at Yahoo!

I really like it when the random opportunity presents itself to give my droidmaker presentation. Today i'm heading up to Yahoo! in Sunnyvale. Interestingly -- and for reasons i don't yet fully understand -- there is a collection of former Lucasfilm Games Group pioneers who have landed at Yahoo!, including Doug Crockford, Randy Farmer and Chip Morningstar. I suppose the general public wouldn't know these names, but they are really important figures in the development of entertainment and technology. Chip, for instance, invented the MMORPG back in the early '80s, and coined the term "avatar" for your ownscreen persona. So if you play WoW or Everquest you own him (and Randy too), a particular debt of gratitutde. Doug and Chip are largely responsible for the development of two key geeky tools for webpages - AJAX and JASON. If you know what these things are, these guys should be your heros.
